Rice

Rice

Have you wonder where rice is from and how it’s grown.

Rice can be useful, you can have it with anything like you can make rice cake or rice with veggies also you can eat it any time of day. Rice is very good for you, when you have a tummy bug it can help too.
First you plant the rice seeds in a sloppy wet place called a paddy field, then you wait, when you see the rice plants going yellow you cut the stalk and put it in the threshing machine. The threshing machine will divide the rice plants and the rice apart. After you will be leave with husks and rice, they will need to dry, so they put them on the side of the road. Husks are a coating that covers the rice. After they have been dryed you sweep them up and put them in the milling machine, this machine gently crutches the gain so the husks fall off.

Rice comes from vietnam and vietnam is a slimmer size to New zealand and rice is a whole lot of work and people are busy every day.

Rice is a really nice thing to eat and I love rice. Remember if you want to grow rice plant it in spring and in early december drain the paddy fields and havets.

My first day of pony club

I am learning to use draft. I have done this by writing this sports story. Draft helps you edit your writing.

This is my finished story

I sprang out of bed, got out of the house, ran out to the paddock, throw the halter over Stormy’s head and trotted her back to the stable. When we got into the stables, I gave stormy a carrot and a good brush. Finally I had finished brushing her, and she was sparkly in the early morning sun. Me and our dog chased my sister into the house and got all our  things into car then we bumped down the road to pony club.

I couldn’t WAIT, I’m jumped up and down. Me and my sister unloaded the ponies, tied them up and went to meet everyone. Time pass’s and we  tacked up the ponies  and gathered around the club room, inforthley stormy was to excited to be off lead so mum leaded me. We start with mounting and then some games, this is the first time stormy has been with other horses for a while.. At lunch mum said ‘’we are not going to stay for the rest of pony club’’ and with the ponies we go home. That’s a time a will look back on when I get better.

our corn thing for leap.

Charlottes
To grow sweet corn you will need chicken poo and the cron needs to be 50 cm apart so when on corn is pollinated it will spride and all the corn plants will get  pollinated and that means that you will get more corn and sweeter corn. and evey if you have a small if you do this you will get a lot of sweet corn.

Ryleighs

Do you know when you should pick the Corn? well the corn has little tafs the the end of it’s corn and when they are green they are not ready but when they are brown and look like they are died that’s when they are ready. then pel down the coating and there you have it nice sweet corn. simply pull and twist to get then off. The smallest can be the best.

The Beach!!

As I get out of the car I see my cousins, finally we are here at the bach not far from the sea! I look around then the beach smell drifts up my nose, I think about the cold swishing water. Mum starts to unpack the car and she said ‘’ you can go for a bike ride once you help me unpack the car’’ I chuck everything out then I jump on my bike and head for the sea. As I see the sea I know that there's some amazing shells out there. The smell of the rotting seaweed slips up my nose and the crashing of the waves are ringing in my ears. I think of swimming in water. I run down to the soft sticky sand and hunt around for amazing shells whoosh a gust of wind picks up the sand and blows sand straight into my face. Well that was the end of that so pedal as fast as I can back to the bach. As I get nearer I hear the laughter of mum and my aunty and I hear codie our dog bark, she loves it when we take her for walks along the beach so I decided to take her to the beach and back. I think about going check out the airfield. I go and see the airfield. As I get there a plane swoops over my head, time to head home. Thats a time I will never forget.

My Newletter Article.

Have you heard? The senior school is no longer rooms 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. We are now Hub 1 and Hub 2. This is the real test, being with 75 other kids. Have you wondered what the safety fences are doing up, and why  trucks are coming in? Well you will soon find out in these next few paragraphs.

Well, I think your wondering, why we are doing this? We love being together, and we need our classrooms to suit our learning, instead of having one teacher, we have 3 and now we are a true hub. We get to choose where we want work and choose who we want to work with. Our learning is the same as in our old classrooms too.

We have had a digger digging holes and the the construction workers have been smashing down the walls in our old classrooms. Even though you would think it would be noisy with all of the digging and construction going on, it is not that bad as you think. Now the digger has gone and the trucks are not going in and out some much. Nothing has been happening lately. They are hopefully going to start building now.

The time I knew what gravel was.

One day I thought it was a good idea to go down a hill with a cove and fresh gravel on it, I sped down and at high sped then suddenly I realized what was coming it was gravel. I had fallen off then I called up the to my cousin ''don't go'' I looked back, my bike had no brakes they had broken off and so of the fresh gravel had fallen off the track. It was bad luck I had bruises on my nose and on my leg. I wheeled my bike back to mum and dad. It was I time I would never forget.

Daffodil art

First we got hessian and drawed some lines and then mrs marks cut them so we had two cuts in the middle.
After we pulled out the string going across then got all the bits going up and down then wrapped wool around and made stalks
after we cut out some grass out of felt then we cut out daffodils from fabric then stuck it onto my hessian then stuck it onto a blue piece of paper and mine went to ANZ bank.

Being a shoe

Being a shoe!

‘’Hey up there, what are you doing with me, I’m very unfit’’. I’m a shoe, a very boring shoe but then a very important shoe when it comes to running.

My name is Pip and I have a twin sister whose name is Billy, but I call her Silly Billy, that is always yelling and screaming at me because whenever we are running in a race and if we don’t get a placing she blames me for not running as much as her but really she's the one who let me down.

I just wish I didn’t have to run all day long, instead I would rather relax and spend my day on a shelf watching what goes on through the day.

Hey I’ve noticed a change, well I notice a lot of changes but this is different. It’s very different, finally my wish has come true ‘’ THE TOE NAILS HAVE BEEN TRIMMED!!!!!’’.

Wow………... this foot is sweaty, we are running somewhere but all I can see is grass, concrete, grass and some gravel too. I can see the finish line, yay, I’m working as hard as I can, come on Billy help me out.

Holidays are too short.

Holidays are too short

Don’t you just love having so much time to yourself in the morning, knowing that you have the whole day to spend? That's why I strongly believe that the school holidays are too short, and they must be changed to a week longer.

To begin I don’t get enough time to spend with my pony Poppy. I love playing and riding her but when it rains the ground is too slippery to ride her.  I bet it would be nice and sunny if we had another week.

Secondly I wanted to go to the beach. We didn’t get time to because we were so busy doing things that needed to be done. Suddenly it’s the day before school and I had to get ready for school ‘’boohoo’’

Yet another reason why, my room is a mess and I didn’t get time to clean it up. Also we got another pony called Stormy. It would be good to have another week to get her settled in and start riding her.

To wrap it up, the school holidays are too short and MUST MUST be changed. Now you have a lot to think about.

My wonderful holidays

My wonderful holidays!

In my wonderful holidays I did many different actives. My favorites were seeing inside out and going to Te Aroha pools.

Inside out was funny, the best part was when Riley bumped into a boy and makes him drop his drink bottle riley picks it up and tries to give it back, in the other hand the boys emotions have set off alarms saying girl girl girl and it's going crazy in his brain.

It was also fun at Te Aroha pools, Mum was working so it was Dad's mission to take us to Te Aroha pools. When we got there and got all our stuff, Dad said he forgot his towel so Jordyn [my sister] and had to share a towel. Dad was being nice and got us wrist bands to go in the spa. First we had a splash in the big pool then in the spa to finish it off.

J rock

                                                       J rock

As the J rock people crowded the hall we get ready for the ride over to the place where we are performing, some kind parents give us a ride over there. The next thing I know I’m right outside the doors, the lady shows us our room and we grab a bite to eat. We did a fun activity where I danced until I got the stitch. Mrs Bored had to go up on stage and bogy it down then when the music stopped she went to a flower it had number one on it so we were performing first. The spotlight shone over the 2015 family then the music went back to where they were getting ready for war the ragtime boys go and meet each other then us girls come trotting on and start the ragtime dance then suddenly we have say good bye and trot to the side of the stage and wave like crazy the family's run on and give their soldiers a big hug, the family's join us and we walk off. After the performs we get changed into our clothes. Finally I go home with kaelyn and her mum dropped me off.

Marble Run

Marble Run!

Me, Kaelyn, Chloe, and Cassidy had to do a marble run, it had to run 3 metres after  going down the run. We got 6 sheets of newspaper, a roll of sticky tape and scissors. The marble had to be dropped not guided and not pushed or you're disqualified. It had to be stand on it’s own too. We tried our best but the marble got stuck in the the newspaper so we didn’t win.

Abseiling

Abseiling

As I was walking I see this huge cliff, I was petrified. I was so petrified that I did not want to go up but I remember that I was going to do everything because it was the only chance to do it for free.

As I passed the gate the cliff looks higher I look around it’s actually a nice place then I was face to face to with the ugly monster I was going to climb. We were a stream apart.  We put our bags down by the tree on a carpet of pine needles.

Damion told us how to put the harness on he said to make should that we have c clips and lean back and make should you look like a cowgirl walking back down a cliff but do not touch the figure of 8 if you do you will get burnt and it's not nice!

Damon asked us who wanted to go up to Papa bear me and kaelyn + 3 other people wanted to go, I huffed and puffed up the hill step by step at Mama bear but that's not our destination up up up there finally Grace decided to go first then kaelyn then me.

I am filled with excitement that I'm scuffing my shoe along the ground and pushing all the loose dirt into the grass. Now Kaelyn was going down me next on papa bear and I was bouncing up and down I had 1000 butterflies in my tummy.

My turn it was hard to get the hadley but I did I am almost down I was saying to myself don’t look down Ryleigh.

anzac button

The anzac button!

he went to war and got saved by the anzac button because a piece of shell from a bullet hit the button and bounced off.
He polished the button and took it to the parades every year and then put it in the cupboard for another years waiting.
A lot of years passed and the button and jacket stayed in the cupboard. Then ella found them polished them then she sewed it on a piece of red ribbon.

                                                    Ripper Ruby

When I am walking down the steps to the field I am so nervous. I have never played ripper ruby before. The instructor told us to try and rip as many tag off the other people. Then we did some passing and at first I couldn’t catch the ball very well and I got a bit confused but I got there in end. The instructor did a bit of explaining and I didn't really get it until we started to play. Once I got into it I had a go to get a goal, but sadly someone ripped my tag off and I had ripped someone else tag off too.

My summer

My Summer

Have you ever seen summer, it’s always the best time in my life, that blazing hot sun, all swimming and eating ice creams.
But the best part is camping, sitting on the hot sand all day long, having water fights and getting soaked.
Going to birthday parties are always fun, all the yummy food and the screaming kids.

Have you smelt summer, all the summer flowers getting dryed up and dying, but the bees are doing there best to make honey.
All the christmas food waiting on the tables and the presents waiting under the christmas trees.

Have you heard summer, the singing of the cicadas and the cricket’s chirping, the buzz of the
flie’s flying past.
The whoooooooosh of the breeze at the beach blowing my hat off.
I just love the sizzle of the sausages and steak on the bbq.

Boo summer’s nearly over I just can’t wait until next year.
